I’ve been loving putting together and reading everyone’s #SewingTop5 posts! If you are blogging/instagramming/chatting about your top 5s, make sure to let me know below so I can check it out!
Onto the highlights from the year! I’ve recapped my sewing hits here, my sewing misses here and now it’s time for some non-sewing highlights. My husband and I don’t travel a lot, but a lot of these are travel related because we had some really amazing trips this year.
One | Hawaii
We had the opportunity this year to go to Maui for a week right before Thanksgiving and it was the best vacation I’ve ever been on. I am a really bad traveler and generally don’t look “forward” to traveling but this trip was one for the books. Hawaii is an extremely beautiful and magical place. We spent half the trip in Wailea and the second half of the trip in Kapalua.
We even were able to take our Christmas Card photos while in Maui – which I’ll be sharing early next week! But for now, I included some other pics from our trip.
Two | Park City
En route to Hawaii, I visited some family in Park City Utah. I’ve been to Utah once before and always talk about how absolutely beautiful it is – it definitely lived up to my memories! I was in Utah for 5 days and even got to meet some amazing sewing insta-friends while I was there. My cousin and her beautiful baby girl even came to visit as well.
Three | Disney
If you’ve been around here for a while you know I’m obsessed with Disney World! My husband and I are annual passholders and this year I was able to go a few times. For me, Disney is such a magical place – one that I hold so dear to my heart. I may or may not check weekly how feasible it would be to “escape” to Disney for a day or two. I know Disney World isn’t for everyone, but it is my favorite place on earth!
Four | Camp Workroom Social
I totally stepped outside my comfort zone this year and attended Camp Workroom Social and had an absolute blast! I know this is sewing related, but it’s still a highlight for me because it was a really fun weekend and one I won’t forget. I recapped my Camp Workroom Social experience here and here.
Five | Weekend Adventures
My husband and I are admittedly, pretty boring, but we’ve had a really amazing year. But sometimes, the best weekends are when we just hang out and do something fun here in the DC area. Nathan is the person behind the lens on all my blog photos and he has been such a trouper this year taking all my blog photos. I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings for us!
2017 was a heck of a year – but I’m ready for 2018. What were some of your non-sewing highlights from the year??
Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones Lara! I’ve enjoyed following you on your sewing journey and hats off to Nathan for taking fabulous pics of you – I figured the person behind the camera was someone you love very much – your eyes are smiling just as much as your mouth when you’re looking into the camera lens 🙂 A trip to Hawaii is in my bucket list for sure! Everyone I know who has been has said it’s probably the most beautiful place they’ve ever seen.
I totally agree! Hawaii is absolutely beautiful – like nothing that I’ve ever seen before!
You really did travel to some great places. Lucky you! Happy holidays to you and Nathan!
Happy Holidays to you too Kathy!
