I love a good sewing challenge and #MeMadeMay is such a good one. I participated in my first #MeMadeMay last year and loved the challenge of making the most out of my handmade wardrobe. I plan on participating again and keeping my “challenge” the same – wear at least one handmade clothing item every day. I carry a Me Made tote bag every day to work so I want to challenge myself to in addition to that one other piece of my handmade wardrobe.
So how to get prepped for #MeMadeMay? Sew up some new wardrobe basics! (Tell me I’m not alone on this one….)
I rounded up 6 easy quick patterns to add to your handmade wardrobe.

Perfect Layering Pieces
One | Silk Cami from Sew Over It
This is probably my most made and most worn handmade item in my closet. It’s a super easy pattern that features facings and a curved hem (I bias bind my hem and my neckline – it’s my favorite finish on that tank!). You can read about my Silk Camis here and here!

Two | Laurelhurst Cardigan
What’s better than a beautiful wrap cardigan? The Laurelhurst is so quick to sew up and easy to wear. Last year, I wore my black Laurelhust a million times during Me Made May. You can sew a few up in an afternoon and be all ready for those chilly spring mornings during Me Made May! You can read about my Laurelhurst here!

Tees for Every Day
Three | Key Largo Top
A staple woven tee is a great pattern for beginners and a great wardobe builder. I’ve been loving the Key Largo top and it features two views including one that has a tie front so you can mix up the wardrobe basic! You can read about my Key Largo Tops here and here!

Four | Union Street Tee
You also need a staple knit tee too, right? After my Search for the Perfect T-Shirt last year, I really feel that the Union Street Tee is my favorite. You can read about my two Union Street Tees here and here and see how I turned it into a peplum top here!

For Those Lazy Days
Five | Halifax Hoodie or Rockford Raglan
Lounge wear is 100% necessary in Me Made May and the Halifax Hoodie and Rockford Raglan are great lounge wear. Both the Halifax and the Rockford feature a few different views each that would give you a great basic pattern if you picked either one. You can read about my Halifax Hoodies here and here and my Rockford Raglan here.

Six | Hudson Pants
With a sweatshirt you need a great pair of joggers, right? The Hudson pants are my absolute favorite. Sew them up in a bamboo french terry and they’re a dream! You can read about my Hudsons here (and they come in versions for your littles and your husband!) You can read about my Hudsons here.
