Remember my interfacing post from last week? I was testing out interfacing for this project – and I’m super excited to share my Presto Tunic from Love Notions.
The Pattern and the Tunic
The Presto Tunic is a loose fitting tunic with gentle shaping and darts at the bust. It offers two necklines – a bias bound or mandarin collar. It offers a couple different sleeve options – or you can be like me and choose secret option #5 and mash the flutter sleeve from the Harmony Blouse to add on a flutter sleeve to the tunic.
I’ve been looking to add more tops to my wardrobe recently and have always loved the Presto Tunic. I decided to sew it up last weekend but wanted to make it a little bit more “me” by adding the flutter sleeves. I feel like the flutter sleeves make me love it even more.
The tunic features a split hem – and while I love a split hem on others – I think it accentuates the fact that I’m super short. I felt this way with the Kalle Tunic as well. I might chop off the split hem to make it more level. It just seems SO long in the back. I am short, but something to keep in mind if you’re not a huge fan of the split hem like me.
I sewed up a size small, my standard size in Love Notions. It is loose fitting so it’s true to it’s word on sizing. If you wanted it more fitting, you can add the back darts or size down.
The Fabric
I was browsing the Style Maker Fabrics website a couple weeks ago and stumbled upon this beautiful rayon crepe fabric and knew it needed to be added to my stash immediately. It was a perfect match for the Presto Tunic. Even though it’s technically a crepe, it wasn’t overly crepe-ey (if you know what I mean….) which made it easier to work with. I do think the Presto looks a little different in a rayon versus a more structured woven – both creating a beautiful garment though!
You can purchase the Presto Tunic here! If you haven’t joined the Love Notions Facebook Group, I would recommend it – there are sales usually announced in the group and it’s a constant source of inspiration!
