Fall is right around the corner, so let’s kick things off with the Raspberry Creek Fall line. I sewed up the Sloane Sweater from Love Notions – a pattern I picked up during Love Notions’ recent pattern sale.

The Pattern and the Sweater
The Sloane Sweater from Love Notions is a going to be heavy rotation in my fall wardrobe. It has a few different views – View A features a front and back yoke, high/low shirt tail hem and a slimmer fit and View B is a standard banded hem sweater. Each version can be sewn with an optional yoke, kangaroo pocket, elbow patches or hood. It also features a pattern piece with a built in FBA. I love that Love Notions patterns tend to offer multiple options which allow you to create very different garments all from one pattern.
I chose to sew up View A with the optional yoke. The optional yoke is a great way to show off a coordinating fabric and adds just an additional step when assembling the pattern. I was torn between View A and View B, so I imagine that View B will be in my sewing queue shortly. I love tops like this for casual Saturday mornings. Fall bring chillier mornings and with errands to be run in the morning a top like this is a perfect companion.
I sewed up a size small, which is in line with my measurements, but the sweater does have a lot of ease. The pattern recommends sizing down for a tighter fit.
I used my new coverstitch machine to hem and finish the neckline on my Sloane Sweater. How did I live before having a coverstitch machine?! I am obsessed! I used the Heat n Bond iron on hem tape to make hemming it a breeze – it’s my favorite tool for using my coverstitch. I’ll be sure to share all my lessons learned from my coverstitch once I get a few more garments under my belt.
The Fabric
Raspberry Creek Fabrics is one of my FAVORITE places to shop for fabric online. If you haven’t bought from them before, they have fabric that they print themselves along with other wovens and knits that they source elsewhere. They have two large releases of their in house printed fabric (known as CLUB fabric) in the Fall and the Spring. They just released their fall line which features tons of different collections printed on both Cotton Lycra Jersey and French Terry.
When I saw all the designs I was so excited for the number of florals that were in the fall collection. My Sloane Sweater was in this beautiful burgundy and blush floral in French Terry with a coordinate of blush peach quilted fabric. My other favorites in the collection are this floral on grey french terry and this large floral on white french terry. The team at RCF does an amazing job in their Facebook Group of showing all the different coordinates for each fabric – it makes finding the perfect match for what you’re looking for super easy!
I received this fabric free of charge as part of the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Promo Team. As always, all opinions are my own.
