I am a huge fan of independent pattern designers. I actually have never sewn a "big 4" pattern so independent patterns are all I know. I love finding new designers and new patterns and this is no exception. I had no doubt that in my journey to find the perfect t-shirt, I would find new things along the way and that's exactly what this is. I found the Friday Pattern Company on Instagram on Saturday night and it was an immediate purchase --> print out --> tape together --> cut and ... View Post
The Woven Lodo Dress | A Lesson on Checking Fabric Twice…
I don't even know where to start on this one - let's start with all the good and I'll share my woes at the end! If you haven't checked out the Lodo Dress from True Bias, you should stop reading this and go and check it out (but then come back and read the rest!). The Lodo Dress is a knit dress pattern with a new take on the t-shirt dress. It comes in two views - a shorter view (seen here) and a more midi length with a slit in the back. It is designed for stable knits such as ponte, scubas and ... View Post
Me Made Monday | Belladone Dress
Any event is an excuse for me to sew up something handmade - there's nothing better than wearing a handmade garment at least for me! My cousin got married this past weekend at a beautiful venue in Elkton, Virginia - about 2 hours from where I live. Unfortunately, it was a little bit colder and rainier than expected, but I tried to channel the sunshine with my yellow dress and the sun came out shortly after the ceremony - it was such a beautiful evening. The Belladone Dress is my first Deer ... View Post
Me Made Monday: Coffee Shop Dress
Some weekends are filled with more sewing than most and this was one of them! The Coffee Shop Dress from Sew Caroline was released last week and I immediately sewed up a version to wear this weekend. I love Sew Caroline's style and her patterns are right up my ally. I got the pattern for free (!!) by pre-ordering Caroline's new book, Sew Caroline Weekend Style. Check out the blog post here to find out how you can get it for free too! The Coffee Shop Dress has a short and long sleeve version ... View Post
Me Made Monday: Heather Dress
It doesn't take you looking around my blog too long to see that I am a huge Sew Over It fan! Almost all their patterns immediately make my to-sew list and the Heather Dress is no exception! I put off making this dress as I was nervous about some fitting issues, but decided to take the plunge last weekend and sew up my first Heather dress. The Heather Dress is my dream dress! It is extremely comfortable, has pockets, in a beautiful knit and works well for casual and more formal occasions! I ... View Post
Happy Holidays + Southport Dress
Before logging off for Christmas, I wanted to share our Holiday card for this year which included one of my favorite makes to date - my Southport Dress! Earlier this fall, Stitch Sew Shop had a weekend workshop for the Southport Dress which included bringing the pattern designer, Kelli of True Bias. It was such an amazing weekend that I can't say enough good things about! Kelli is absolutely amazing and was such a wonderful teacher. At the end of the weekend, we stood outside the shop talking ... View Post
