Happy Friday everyone! I hope this weekend holds lots of sewing time for you or spending time with family and friends!
I can’t believe we’re already a week closer to Christmas – I swear each week is going by quicker than the next. We’re currently in Florida trying to soak up some sun (it’s currently raining….) before the long winter months and trying to relax a bit before the holiday season!
I’m here to share some of my favorites from the week with you!
Sew Over It Kits! – If you’ve been reading my blog posts, you know I love Lisa Comfort and Sew Over It! They came out with some of their PDF patterns in kits for the holiday season and I scooped up some right away. I love the Tulip Skirt, the Silk Cami and of course the Ultimate Pyjamas. If you wanted to catch one of these PDF patterns in hard copy, this is your chance! I know I can’t be the only one that doesn’t love PDF patterns…
Hexagons! – If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me giving a go at English Paper Piecing this week. I mentioned in my Gift Guide that I had been wanting to try it. Since we were going away this weekend, I thought it would be the perfect portable project. I have so many fat quarters and charm packs from when I first started sewing that I think it will be a great stash buster project. I have so many ideas on what I want to do with these hexis and started putting them on my Pinterest board.
Rifle Paper Co Candles! – To say I’m obsessed with Rifle Paper Co is an understatement. When they came out with their fabric line this year, I became obsessed. One could argue I have more Rifle Paper Co fabric than I know what to do with. I saw recently that Rifle Paper Co came out with candles and I’m dying to get my hands on them. The prints that Rifle Paper Co use are so beautiful an these would be wonderful gifts as well this Holiday season.
Sew Together Bag! – Last weekend I took a class at Stitch Sew Shop and made a Sew Together bag by SewDemented. This bag is so functional and amazing. I will be making so many more. The hexies I am making in the picture above are going to be a hexie version. I’m thinking of using a cream linen for the outer fabric and then Rifle Paper Co fabric for all the inside fabric and binding. I am using my completed version as a travel sewing + knitting bag while I’m in Florida this weekend.
#SewMyStyle! – This week on Instagram I saw a lot of posts about #SewMyStyle and I am so excited to be joining in on the fun. From the website, “#SewMyStyle is all about raising awareness about the slow fashion movement and about encouraging young women to take up sewing. We want to show you that sewing your own wardrobe isn’t an unachievable dream.” The year long sew along consists of 1 garment per month and I think it’ll be so fun to have a large community of sewists supporting one another. Additionally, all the pattern designers are offering coupon codes of at least 20% off the patterns involved. I can’t wait for the sew along. The schedule is here and if you want more information or if you’d like to sign up, click here.
I hope you have a great weekend! What sewing or other items are on your favorites list this week?
