I am so ready for Spring to be in full swing (which means that summer is right around the corner!). We’ve had some ups and downs on temperatures here in Virginia, but I’m hoping we’re in full spring mode here! For this spring themed Me Made Monday, I’m excited to share my Workroom Social Drape 1001 Blouse.
My photographer (i.e. husband) should have told me I had a string on my jeans…but it was from sewing so #sewingblogger #sewist
I preordered this fabric back in December when Workroom Social announced their new fabric line – Miramar Fabrics. Their collection is all rayons and rayons designed specifically for garment sewists. The fabric came in a couple weeks ago and due to some delays, Jennifer included both the Drape 1001 pattern and the interfacing she recommends using for the pattern.
Jennifer from Workroom Social came down to my local fabric store, Stitch Sew Shop, earlier in March and I got to meet her and see this beautiful pattern in person! I sewed up my version this weekend in this lemon print!
I chose my size based on my upper bust measurement and I think after making one, I could use a full bust adjustment on the Drape 1001 blouse. I also decided not to include the cuffs and instead make it 3/4 length sleeves (read: I had trouble installing the cuffs, so I gave up and hemmed the sleeves the normal way).
No pun intended, but the drape on this fabric is just unbelievable. The fabric is also very easy to work with – I’ve been sewing with some slippery rayons recently and it was a nice break but still getting the drapeyness of the rayon.
Despite my fitting issues, I think this is a great blouse for work and is super comfy! Jennifer’s instructions are really well written and written in a workbook format – great for us type A people who love to check something off!
The blouse is constructed in a very clever way and requires no serger as the entire blouse is french seamed which leads to a beautiful inside of the garment.
Drape 1001 Summary:
Size Made: 4
View: Version A (no cuffs)
Fabric Used: Miramar Fabrics – Lemons
Notions Used: Rolled Hem Foot, Interfacing
Ease of Construction: It had its tricky parts, but the instructions are really well written!
Fit: I probably need a full bust adjustment on this blouse to make it fit perfectly, but it turned out okay.
Repeatable? I think I’ll try another one!
Another gorgeous top for spring Lara Liz! That fabric especially is a show stopper – nice length on you but I agree if you make it again it could use an fba just to increase the drapey-ness at the bust a bit. Your husband takes great photos I must say – kudos to him 🙂
Thanks!! It was such a fun fabric to work with – but I totally agree. I’m new to the FBA world, but think this is a great example of the need for one. I try not to give too many compliments on my husbands photography as to not inflate his head – but I’ll pass along the message :-)!
Love the lemons!! Why oh why didn’t I get some? Such a great top. I have this on my short list of things to make…but I’m getting the feeling it may have to wait for fall. Although, by leaving the cuffs off, I think your’s is perfect for spring!
