The beginning of the year is always full of such inspiration and all sorts of challenges to get our creative juices flowing! I already shared my #2018MakeNine which I also participated in last year’s #2017MakeNine. Last year I started the year by participating in #SewMyStyle and totally stunk at keeping up! I am going to be a bit more realistic this year and only plan on sewing the months that I know I’ll enjoy having the finished garment.
This year that is a really great lineup of patterns – a lot of them I’ve made before that I need to make another one anyways!
Looking at the schedule, I know I’m planning on joining in for January, March, August, September, and October. Each month that I plan on participating, I will share an inspiration post early in the month and join in on the reveal at the end of the month! If you’re not already signed up, sign up on Jessica’s site here! So let’s chat about the Sunny Dress!
I’ve actaully sewn up the Sunny Dress before, but wanted to sew up another version so this is the perfect excuse. You can read about my first Sunny Dress here!
My first version I sewed up in a double brushed poly, which has since become not one of my favorite fabrics to sew. While it is super comfortable, I don’t love the way it hangs on my body. So for my second version, I have some different ideas!
I would love to sew up a version in a french terry. When I look for french terry online, I tend to pick bamboo french terries. My favorite comes from my local sewing shop, Stitch Sew Shop (they have the best jersey of all kinds!) Here are some other choices:
(1) Navy French Terry from Style Maker Fabrics, (2) Dusty Rose French Terry from LA Finch Fabrics, (3) Striped French Terry from LA Finch Fabrics, (4)Tribal Hacci Knit from Style Maker Fabrics, (5) Hacci Knit from Raspberry Creek Fabrics, (6) Ponte Knit from Raspberry Creek Fabrics
I don’t plan on making many adjustments from my first version. I didn’t use knit binding and didn’t hem my first version. I think I’m going to still add a neckband but I will hem it this time!
I’ve already started working on mind and can’t wait to share my finished product! What fabric are you planning on using for your version??
