Have you seen the new spring patterns from Blank Slate Patterns? I had the opportunity to sew up both the Sora Sweater and Skye Joggers and I can’t wait to share all about them! And hint hint, there might be a giveaway at the bottom of the post!
The Patterns
The Sora Sweater is a cardigan and pullover pattern from Blank Slate Patterns featuring a shawl collar on both versions. The pullover is hip length and has a shawl collar with two sleeve lengths – short or long. The cardigan has two lengths – hip length and longer – a shawl collar, and two sleeve lengths. What I think is really nice about this pattern is that the two views really create two different looks. It’s hard to know that they’re even the same pattern!
The Skye Joggers is basically my dream lounge wear. With both an ankle length and calf length they’re perfect for all things lounging. They are fitted and have really nice cuffs for both versions. Finding good fitting sweatpants can be challenging and these guys are spot on for me.
The Sora Sweater
I chose to sew up the cardigan version of the Sora Sweater because I thought that would get the most wear in my closet. I used a french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (one of my favorites!) and sewed up the shorter version. I do think that this pattern would be better suited for a sweater knit or a more drapey french terry (similar to this or this from Style Maker Fabrics). The cardigan features a gusset side panel which I LOVE because it provides such awesome shaping.
In constructing the cardigan I took some “liberties” to sew my own way when it came to the collar – but I probably should have followed the instructions! Therefore, my collar also is hemmed even though it shouldn’t be – oh well! I also sewed up the Medium because that was in line with my measurements, but cold have probably sewed up the small and shortened the sleeves a bit to make it a bit less slouchy. But it’s super comfy and I still like it!
I now want to make the pullover version – it reminds me of the Finlayson Sweater I made my husband for Christmas!
The Skye Joggers
I am in love with these. I like the Hudson Pants but always felt that the legs weren’t as slim as I wanted them to be and that the cuffs were always a little loose. This pattern corrected all these issues for me. They fit so well!
I sewed up the size medium which seemed to be the perfect size. I also chose to sew up the ankle length version because I love the capri length for joggers on me.
I used french terry I bought from Stitch Sew Shop a few months ago. Their french terry is so dreamy and buttery (I probably should have used it on the Sora Cardigan too!) If you’re ever in DC, you have to stop at Stitch – and make sure to get some french terry, you won’t regret it.

I love the shawl collar on the Sora.
